Tempus is proud to document the construction of Air New Zealand’s cutting-edge facility through timelapse drone monitoring and videography, capturing every stage of this state-of-the-art development for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling aircraft engines.
With a 14,000-square-meter expansion planned, it will support both V2500 engines for A321ceo aircraft and PW1100G-JM GTF engines for A320/A321neo aircraft. Set to include new GTF repair capabilities by 2026, the facility is pivotal for Air New Zealand’s growing fleet and serves as a cornerstone of Christchurch’s reputation as a global aerospace hub.
Coordination and Planning
As the Christchurch Engine Centre expansion begins, capturing the project through timelapse photography requires precise coordination with construction teams. Navigating logistical complexities and ensuring uninterrupted coverage amidst evolving schedules and weather conditions presents ongoing challenges that demand flexibility and proactive planning.
Strengthening Asia-Pacific Aviation
The expansion will add maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine in New Zealand, with capacity for up to 140 GTF engine overhauls planned annually by 2032.
